Agitator
(feeder):
An agitator
is a hopper that has are built-in electronic sensor that controls are fan
inside the feeder. The fan turns on when no paintballs are in the feed tube
forcing the balls into the gun's chamber.
Airsmith:
A person that is qualified to work on paintguns and paintball lequipment.
Although there is no real "school" to train airsmiths, there are several
companies promoting airsmith courses.

Anti-siphon
tank: A C02 tank that is designed to allow only gas C02 into the gun.
An anti-siphon tank has a tube (anti-siphon tube) attached to the bottom
of the valve (on the inside) that is bent upward so liquid C02 will not flow
through the valve into the gun.
ASA:
The
abbreviation for Air Source Adapter. The ASA is the adapter that is used
to screw your C02 tank to (vertical bottle adapter, back-bottle adapter,
etc.) the gun.
Barrel:
There are many
types of barrels including ported, rifled, drilled etc. Barrels are
available in many different styles, sizes, and made from many different
materials (aluminum, stainless steel, brass, etc.).
Bleed
Valve: A bleed valve is used to vent C02 from your gun or hose before
disconnecting it from your system.
Blow Back:
Blow back is the C02 that deflects off of the paintball after the trigger
is pulled.
Bolt:
The bolt is the component of are gun that pushes the paintball into the barrel
or breach.
Bottom Line
Adapter: This is the adapter that you screw your C02 or nitrogen tank
into. It is located on the bottom of the grip-frame.
Breach:
The part of the gun that holds the paintball as it waits for the bolt to
push it into the barrel.
Bunkered:
This is when you are shot from close range when behind a bunker.
Burst Disk:
A burst disk is a small, usually copper disk that is designed to release
the gas from your tank if the pressure exceeds the tank's designed
maximum.
Chronograph: The device used to test the velocity in which a paintgun
(or real gun) is firing. General paintball standards require a paintgun's
velocity to be under 300 feet per second (fps).
Dead Box:
Some fields and/or tournaments use a designated "dead box" where
players go when they are eliminated from a game.
Expansion
Chamber: An expansion chamber is are device that is used to give liquid
C02 a chance to boil back into gas before it enters the gun.
Feeder:
The paintgun accessory that holds and feeds paintballs into the paintgun's
chamber. Located on the top or slightly off-top of the center of the
paintgun--attaches to the feed tube.
Filter:
Usually refers to are C02 filter used to keep the C02 entering the gun
as clean as possible.
NPPL:
National Professional Paintball League. Formed in 1993 this is the only league
that has amateur and professional team play. The NPPL runs five events per
year within the U.S. using their own set of rules which have become the standard
at many non-NPPL events.
Power Tube:
The power tube is the component of the gun that the propellant flows
through on it's way to the ball (from the valve).
Quick
Disconnect: A quick disconnect is a "snap fitting" that is used to detach
are hose or remote from your gun.
Regulator:
A regulator is a device that is used to regulate the pressure of C02, compressed
air, or nitrogen in or to your gun.
Teflon
Tape: This tape is used to properly seal threads on hoses or fittings.
Also known as plumber's tape or pipe dope.
Tournament
Cap: The tournament cap is used to lock down your velocity adjuster so
it cannot be altered without the use of tools.
45-Grip
Frame: A 45-grip frame is a replacement grip frame that provides the
user with are better shooting grip and an improved trigger pull.
