Upgrading the gun that's available to the masses...the Brass Eagle Raptor

Nearly every Kmart, Wal-Mart, and major chain sporting good store carries the Brass Eagle paintball products line with the trademark green Raptor semi-auto being the flagship of their inventory. Any potential future paintball player walking up and down the aisle of any one of these major discount retailers will be privy to the best of what Brass Eagle has to offer. How does one upgrade the green semi? At first glance, the Raptor appears to be your basic, non upgradable semi with no aftermarket hopes.....but looks can be deceiving. Here's few of the ways to make the Brass Eagle Raptor an even better gun than the stock version.

1.) J & J Performance, TASO, and Smart Parts all produce excellent aftermarket barrels for the Raptor and other paintguns. Take a look at the twist-drilled or stainless steel models. A good barrel goes a long way towards improving your accuracy and shot groupings.

2.) Diamond Labs (New Jersey) has one of the few upgrades to the valve system. Their valve body will make velocity control much easier, while improving your winter play without weighing down your credit card bill.

3.) Smart Parts and Hogue offer a few variations to the boring standard grip panels on the 45-grip frame. Smart Parts' grips are a bit pricy, but style costs money.

4.) Benchmark and CMI offer the widest range of expansion chambers from the budget minded, to the penthouse of all expansion chambers.

5.) A sight rail will help with your over the gun look TASO makes the tiger rail for the Raptor--space age looks at a fair price.

6.) Proline makes a variety of bottom-line and vertical-bottle adapters that will help you configure the Raptor just the way you like it.

7.) Don't forget to get yourself a good feeder system (and elbow) for your Raptor. Viewloader, APP, and Indian Springs make the premier feeder systems.

Well I'm almost out of space here...good luck with your Raptor semi-auto. Don't forget to e-mail me with any questions. ohpawlak@aol.com
