How to Choose your Tournaments

The growth of tournaments throughout the United States and the rest of the
world has grown like a fortune 500 company on the move up. Even with the
winds of rumors swirling around the heirarchy of the NPPL, it still remains
the only show in town that offers both the variety of competition and availabilty
of potential sponsors. However, a new breed of tournament promoters have
begun to grow like wildflower. The west coast has their Great Western Series
while the east coast has the GTO, NAPSAA and others. In this rough sea of
events, how do team captains decide on which events to cash in their team
coffers for?
1. First decide if you have the financial wherewithall to attend a major
event like the ZAP AMATEUR OPEN or one of the NPPL events in your region.
NO cash means no travel.
2. Second, decide on team goals. Where do you want to be in circle of paintball
life. Do you want to be with the big boys some day or would you rather keep
it local.
3. Thirdly, do some research on the promoter/site of the event. Do they have
a history filled with no shows or non payment of prizes. Are they safe and
fair.
4. Does your team play well on varied terrain and format? Will the event
fit your team profile(exp., goals, fianancial standing, etc)
5. Will your wife or girlfriend let you go(it sounds funny, but it has direct
merit)
6. Will your day job allow you to attend the event without conflicting with
your work schedule.
No matter how you decide to choose your events...always have fun and never
quit learning
