Part III of IV

Hello again an welcome to part III of the 1998-99 Special Edition. This issue will feature a review of some of the best paintball web sites out there.

Note: You can click on any of the highlighted company names to go to their sites.

Best Informational "Resource" Web Site

Winner "Best Informational Web Site" - www.warpig.com

Warpig: This one is really a no-brainer when you look at what they've done and continue to do.  Warpig is by far the best, most current, and largest informational web site in the paintball industry. Warpig is the site that everyone looks to for "on the scene tournament coverage" as it happens, although several other web sites have taken warpig's lead in that department. Additionally Warpig has the most popular paintball chat room, classified ads, and tournament photo gallery you'll find.

For those looking for technical info about paintguns and equipment ,Warpig is also among the best site to turn to. What really makes Warpig outstanding is that somehow it is still free.

PCRI is pleased to award www.warpig.com our Resource Web Site of the Year(s).

Other excellent resources web sites

Gear Owner's Group
Spyder Owner's Group
Splatter Zone Paintball
Paint Online Magazine

Best Personal Web Site

Winner "Personal" Web Page - Ravi Chopra's Paintball Place

If you've never been to Ravi's page it is definitely worth the trip. For those that don't know Ravi Chopra, he is a long time player and writes for PCRI, APG, and other paintball publications.  Ravi's writing is mostly the technical variety with product reviews and tech information.

Ravi's web site has sections on "teching" paintguns and gear, product reviews, infosheets on various paintball equipment, links, and more.

PCRI is pleased to award Ravi Chopra's web site our Personal Web Site of the Year(s).

Best Manufacturers Web Site

Winner "Manufacturers'" Web
Page
Air Concepts' Web Page

Just from this graphic you can get a pretty good idea that ACI's web site is graphically hip.  Although it takes a few seconds to load some of the pages, this is a beautiful site with a lot of good information about ACI and other's products.

In addition to the product information on this site there is a ton of excellent photos that can be found here. Again not only on ACI products but on the Angel, Automag, and other good stuff.

PCRI is pleased to award ACI's web site our Manufacturer's Web Site of the Year(s).

Other excellent manufacturer's web sites

Pursuit Marketing Inc. (PMI)
RP Scherer
Airgun Designs
Smart Parts

Some interesting web sites

Paintball-Auction.com (Best auction site)

Paintball Auction.com is the paintball industry's version of Ebay. Paintball products are listed by sellers with starting bids. Potential buyers place bids above the minimum amount set by the seller and after a designated time period, usually seven days, the product is awarded to the highest bidder. Buyers and sellers must register with Paintball-Auction.com using a valid e-mail address (no Hotmail-type accounts) or using their credit card. This is by far the best auction site for paintball in our humble opinion.

Cool Web Design

Zap Amateur.com (Best site intro)

The Online Paintball Network (Second best site intro)

Have you heard that Worr Game Products is suing AKALMP Paintball for copying the Autococker? To see the actual claim filed by WGP click HERE. (go to the bulletin board and click on "see the court documents") So what do you think? Does WGP have the right in your opinion to sue AKALMP for copying the Autococker? Do you view AKALMP in a different light now that they've apparently copied the Autococker? Is Bud Orr an industry untouchable? Send us your comments!

We're putting together a list of celebrities that have played paintball.  Do you know of any? So far we have names like Tiger Woods, Meatloaf, Ricky Schroder, Greg Lloyd, etc. If you know of any famous people that have played paintball, click HERE  to send us the names and where you heard it from.  It's important that you document your comments, i.e. Tiger Woods said in ESPN Magazine that he has played paintball.

On the rumor trail we have heard that a major paintgun manufacturer has a working electronic paintgun prototype and is planning on a fall release. This is no small player in the industry, but one of the more successful manufacturers out there.

Check back here on August 2nd for the "Accessory of the Year" article series. Thanks for reading.
