A.N.S. Automag Bolt

The new Foamie Venturi bolt for the Automag is manufactured by A.N.S. Xtreme of Simi Valley, California and distributed by Smart Parts of Latrobe, Pennsylvania. The Foamie Venturi bolt replaces the stock bolt on the 68 Automag. The suggested retail price of the A.N.S. bolt is $54.95

Design/Construction:

The A.N.S. Foamie Venturi bolt is manufactured from stainless steel and weighs 1.8 ounces. The stock foamie-less Airgun Designs bolt weighs two ounces. The A.N.S. foamie bolt has a concave face machined into the front end. The center of it has a .252 (just over a 1/4") flat spot which is where the round foamie is attached. The C02 or nitrogen that flows through the bolt does not "push" the foamie--it flows around it. The A.N.S. foamie venturi bolt is nicely machined and finished.

In theory, the venturi design allows the C02 to push the paintball. The gas flows through the ten holes before it hits the paintball. With non venturi bolts, the gas burst hits the ball in more of a concentrated, direct spot. This is very true with most guns. However, the stock Airgun Designs foamie-less bolt is sort of a venturi design itself. The reason for the foamie is that you should be able to shoot a more fragile paintball since you have foam pushing the paintball instead of metal.

Performance:

We have used the A.N.S. venturi bolt on several occassions and found it to work as well as any in most cases, and better in some. We shot some very fragile paint through the ‘Mag using the foamie-less bolt, breaking an average of one ball per 805. With the A.N.S. bolt, the average number of breaks dropped slightly to one per 870.

Unlike the Accurizer bolt which shows sign of wear after 100 rounds, the A.N.S. bolt looks almost new after 8000+ rounds. On the down side, we've found the A.N.S. bolt to use more C02 or nitrogen to shoot the same velocity as the stock bolt. Our velocity dropped about 8 feet per second when changing from the stock bolt to the A.N.S. bolt.

Price:

At $54.95, the A.N.S. venturi bolt is a bit pricey, especially considering that there is not a lot of performance difference between it and the stock bolt.

PCRI IS PLEASED TO AWARD THE A.N.S. VENTURI AUROMAG BOLT OUR THREE STAR SEAL OF QUALITY.
