Design/Construction:

The Sub Zero expansion chamber is three and one-half inches in length (not including the adapter threads) and weighs about eight ounces. The entire unit is manufactured from aluminum (as far as we can tell) and the main housing is a nodized polished black. Internally the Sub Zero expansion chamber contains two o-rings (plus one on the adapter threads externally). There are standard 1/8" n.p.t. in and out ports to run your lines to.

Performance/Versatility:

We used the Sub Zero expansion chamber on a Spyder semi-auto and found the following:

Velocity Consistency: All velocity consistency testing was done using a regular gas twenty-ounce C02 tank. Read from right to left.

With the Sub Zero expansion chamber

282 fps 284 fps 283 fps

286 fps 288 fps 285 fps

286 fps 285 fps 282 fps

285 fps 285 fps 286 fps

average fps 285 fps

low fps 282 fps (-3 fps)

high fps 288 fps (+3 fps)

Without the expansion chamber

287 fps 285 fps 291 fps

286 fps 281 fps 288 fps

292 fps 291 fps 290 fps

294 fps 283 fps 289 fps

average fps 288 fps

low fps 281 fps (-7 fps)

high fps 294 fps (+6 fps)

Observations: The ACI expansion chamber definitely improved the shot to shot consistency of the Spyder compared to the stock gun. We also noticed that when dry firing the Spyder with the barrel pointed towards the ground (with no paint) that without the expansion chamber it took 12 shots to draw liquid C02 into the gun. With the expansion chamber it took more than 30 shots to draw liquid.

Conclusion:

The Sub Zero Four Stage expansion chamber from ACI does exactly what it's supposed to do. It helps prevent liquid C02 from entering your paintgun. The Sub Zero expansion chamber is a very good product at a very fair price.
